The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Detroit Tigers, 10-0, on Monday night.
The lopsided game had some really exciting moments: Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs and Mike Trout hit one, for example.
It seems like the team has been playing better after they faded out of the playoff picture, frustratingly for fans.
But back to our Monday game: Jose Suarez was brilliant on the mound against a weak offense, with seven scoreless innings as the Angels starter.
As it has happened more than a few times this season, teams throw positions players to the mound to complete meaningless innings in a blowout.
The Tigers did that, and guess who found himself on the mound to face Ohtani?
Roger’s son is an infielder, though: he is not known for his talent on the mound, like his father.
But he got the job done: in the eighth inning, he struck out Ohtani looking, and smiles were stolen everywhere.
Like father, like son. ⛽️
Kody Clemens strikes out Shohei. 😅

A 68-Mph Heater
Overall, Clemens pitched one inning in the game, allowing three hits, a home run, and the legendary strikeout.
He got Ohtani with a 68-mph “fastball” on the outside corner.
We don’t know if Ohtani didn’t swing out of pity, but hey, it still counts!
It’s something that Clemens will remember for the rest of his life.
We would imagine his father would give anything for the right to face peak Ohtani during his playing days.
Kody has had an uneven season, hitting .140/.200/.270 with three home runs and a poor .470 OPS.
Life in MLB hasn’t been kind to him performance-wise, but now, he will have a nice story to tell his grandchildren one day: he struck out the 2021 AL MVP.
