Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is possibly the best player alive in the NBA right now.

The man just won his fourth NBA Finals and secured his first Finals MVP trophy as well.

He’s also the all-time three-point leader in the league now and has sold about a billion jerseys across the globe.

There is no doubt that he is now a very big deal but back in 2009, he was just a Davidson student trying to make his name in the league.

Video of Curry at the 2009 NBA Draft is making the rounds and it shows a young, fresh-faced kid who is excited to enter the association and make a name for himself as his father did.

Little did we know then just how special Curry would become.

He’s still baby-faced but Curry is now wildly different in so many ways.

Curry Coming Up

Curry was drafted by the one team he’s ever played for, the Warriors, back when they were still a serious work in progress.

He was selected as the seventh pick in the draft, behind the likes of number one pick Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, Ricky Rubio, and more.

Other names emerging from the 2009 draft included Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, Jordan Hill, and Danny Green.

Yes, there has been a lot of success from the 2009 class but Curry is still the most successful of that group of rookies.

He has literally transformed his team, as well as the rest of the NBA.

The league is now full of younger, faster players focused on shooting deep twos or threes.

Watching a local game of pick-up basketball will show you just how much Curry has changed the way people view the game.

But all of those changes and all the success started humbly for Curry back in 2009.
