There were more than a few fans of the Los Angeles Lakers who were shocked by the departure of Thomas Bryant this week.
Bryant had quickly become a fan-favorite player and the big man seemed to have a bright future in Southern California.
Yet, on Thursday, Bryant was sent to the Denver Nuggets for Davon Reed and three second-round picks.

Those left scratching their heads have a bit more insight into why this all went down.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Bryant requested a trade from the Lakers after his minutes diminished following Anthony Davis’ return from injury.
Apparently, Bryant wasn’t happy with his limited role and wanted to try his luck elsewhere in the league.
Bryant certainly has had a commendable season so far this year, with an average of 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds.
During Davis’ absence, Bryant stepped up and helped the team secure a few impressive wins.
He has also secured nine double-doubles this year too.
Still, it’s surprising to see him demand a trade from the team.
The Lakers knew that Bryant was going to garner more money in the summer when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Because of how well he has played, he was sure to ask for a heftier paycheck.
Therefore, the Lakers were probably willing to part with him now so they could save themselves money in the future.
With Bryant headed out, the Lakers focused on another big man in the league: Mo Bamba, formerly of the Orlando Magic.
As for Bryant, he will attempt to continue his strong season with the Nuggets, although it remains to be seen how much time on the court he will get.
