Once again, the New York Yankees have found a way to keep winning and reach a milestone.
Thursday night’s series opener against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park was no different.
The Bronx Bombers put up a five spot in the top of the third inning and never looked back as they held off the charging Red Sox for a 6-5 win in game one of the four-game set.
The Yankees were led by Josh Donaldson and Aaron Hicks, both of whom hit home runs.
Donaldson’s was a grand slam.
With the win, the Yankees became the first team in all of baseball this year to reach 60 wins.

The Empire Strikes Back
There may be no team in all of baseball that can stop these Yankees.
It doesn’t seem to matter what other teams try.
The Yanks just seem to have an answer for everything.
Even with Gerrit Cole not having his best night, the bats picked him up and helped him pick up his eighth win of the season.
With the win, the Yankees improved to 60-23, which is the best record in all of baseball.
They also expanded their lead in the American League East to 14.5 games over the second-place Tampa Bay Rays.
This team really is something else and they may go wire to wire when October comes around.
It doesn’t look like there’s another team that can even hold a candle to what these Yankees are doing right now.
This might be the best Yankees squad since 1998.
That team won 114 games en route to a World Series title.
We’ll see what this club can do the rest of the way.
