The New York Yankees sure have had a weird season.
They were 64-28 and looked unbeatable in the first half; and are 21-28 since the All-Star break.
They have lots of losses in which the offense fails to contribute more than three hits, yet also lead the league in wins in which they have more runs than hits.
It’s weird, but it happens.
“This is the 13th time the Yankees have won a game with more runs than hits this season. No other team has more than 8 such wins,” MLB stats expert Katie Sharp tweeted.

To achieve such a game, you have to A) walk a lot; and B) make your precious few hits count, which means hitting for extra-bases with men on base.
The Yanks defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-4 on Sunday, and had eight hits.
Yankees Hitters Appear To Be Waking Up
Of those eight hits, four left the yard: Gleyber Torres hit two homers and Giancarlo Stanton and Oswaldo Cabrera had one apiece.
On top of that, the Yankees walked six times: they made sure there were always runners on to start a rally.
Yesterday’s game was a nice reminder about how good the Yankees offense can be when other players besides Aaron Judge come up big.
After a horrible second half, Torres seems to be heating up, and it’s nice to see Cabrera hitting for power.
If Andrew Benintendi and Anthony Rizzo can return from their injuries and be effective, this lineup has the potential to recover its pre-All-Star form.
That would be huge for New York with the postseason around the corner.
They need every offensive contribution they can get at this point.
