After sweeping their heated rivals, the Boston Red Sox, over the weekend, the New York Yankees have a magic number of two to clinch the American League East division title.
Better yet, they open up a three-game series tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays, who are the only other team in the division with any mathematical chance of catching the Bronx Bombers.
Just one win for the Yankees in this series will secure the division title, meaning it could happen as early as tonight.
On Twitter, a Yankees fan page tweeted a fun little graphic featuring Derek Jeter, who famously wore No. 2 to illustrate where the team stands in terms of their magic number.

Yanks Can Clinch AL East Tonight
The Yankees will send Luis Severino to the mound tonight against Kevin Gausman.
Tomorrow, they’ll have Jameson Taillon going against Jose Berrios and on Wednesday, they’ll send Gerrit Cole to the hill to face Mitch White.
These games are all three great opportunities for the Yankees to put the Blue Jays away and capture the division title.
If they do it tonight, that means they can start to rest some regulars and even have Taillon and Cole rest for the final two games of the series.
The Yankees will have a lot of options if they close out the Jays tonight.
They’ll of course have the luxury of celebrating on their rival’s home diamond, but with their pitching, there may be a lot of potential avenues that they could take.
Now is the time for the Yankees to close out the Blue Jays.
The AL East is theirs for the taking and the prize sits right in front of them with just 10 games remaining.
