New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is currently at 60 home runs this season, about to become the owner of the franchise’s record for most long balls in a single campaign if he can hit two more.
Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961, and Judge is about to fly past him.
Judge has, realistically, two pending historic moments: hitting home runs number 61 and 62.
There is a problem, though: Friday’s game against the Boston Red Sox will be under Apple TV+’s exclusive broadcast rights.
The Yanks are, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, trying to facilitate a trade with Apple by offering Michael Kay (the Yankees’ voice of the YES Network), David Cone and Paul O’Neill, plus production support to put Friday’s Yankees game on YES.
Apple, as well as MLB, have rejected those advances so far.
Per Marchand, Kay could still be a part of Friday night’s Apple broadcast.
Will Kay Call Judge’s Historic Homers?
He is almost Judge’s official voice, so it would make sense to have him calling that glorious moment if it comes.
Yankees insider Lindsey Adler, who covers the team for The Athletic, criticized the fact that the game is, so far, exclusively for Apple TV+ subscribers.
“Burying a potential milestone moment for the biggest current star so that a big game can remain on a streaming service. Unreal,” she tweeted.

We will find out over the next few hours whether YES will gain access to the game or if Apple TV+ will retain exclusive rights, but the latter remains the most likely outcome for now because that was the agreement before the season started.
Will Judge make history tonight?
Will fans be able to watch the moment?
We will find out soon.
