It’s been a difficult season for the Chicago White Sox, who entered 2022 as the overwhelming favorites to win the American League Central after running away with it in 2021.
On the heels of a 93-win season, the White Sox dealt with injuries and never seemed to be able to get going in the right direction.
Last night was their eighth straight loss, and with it, they have officially hit rock bottom, being mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
The loss to the Minnesota Twins also dropped them to 76-79, which puts them in a second-place tie with them.
The Twins were also eliminated from playoff contention last night.

White Sox Eliminated
It just wasn’t the White Sox’s year.
The AL Central looked to be theirs from the taking right from the start.
But they never found consistency for much of the year and now find themselves officially eliminated.
The best they can do now is win all the rest of their games, which would put them at 83-79, 10 games below their finish from a season ago.
It was the Cleveland Guardians who ultimately captured the division crown in 2022.
Not even a Cy Young caliber season on behalf of pitcher Dylan Cease was enough to save the South Siders.
It’s been a difficult season to say the least.
Injuries to key players and a health scare with manager Tony La Russa were too much for them to overcome.
Now, they’ll spend the rest of the season trying to unpack everything and figure out where they went wrong and what can be done to improve the team heading into 2023.
The White Sox will wrap up their series with the Twins this afternoon.
