The Chicago White Sox have been eliminated from American League Central contention.
With a loss to the Detroit Tigers yesterday and a win for the Cleveland Guardians over the Texas Rangers, the race for the AL Central title finally came to an end.
The Guardians are your AL Central division champs.
The loss yesterday also dropped the White Sox to 76-77 on the season.
After 93 wins netted them an AL Central title last year, it hasn’t been smooth sailing this season.
Soon, the White Sox could be eliminated from Wild Card contention.
They also could finish under .500, as one insider points out.
If that were the case, then they will have finished with a losing record in eight of the last 10 seasons.
If White Sox finish below .500 it will be for the eighth time in last 10 seasons.

Will The ChiSox Finish Under .500?
This is quite sad for the White Sox and their fans.
It’s a depressing reality that could set in very soon.
Last season was a good one for the South Siders, but the same cannot be said for 2022.
Being under .500 in September is a bad sign.
It’s looking very likely that in the coming days, the White Sox will officially be eliminated from postseason contention all together.
A sub-.500 finish is also not out of the question.
Even if they were to finish over .500 this season, it wouldn’t save them from what is yet to come.
There have been ups and downs, and the White Sox appear to be ending the season on a down note.
If they haven’t already reached rock bottom, they soon will.
It’s certainly been a season to forget for the White Sox.
There’s always 2023, but that’s still months away.
The White Sox find themselves caught in a depressing cycle right now.
