Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors didn’t play NBA basketball for over two years as he rehabbed from very serious injuries.
During that time, a lot of rust built on his game, which would be true for anyone.
He re-entered the league back in January and there was certainly some inconsistency.
Most alarming was the fact that he wasn’t sinking three-pointers like he used to.
Seeing Thompson, one-half of the Splash Brothers, not making those buckets was shocking and disappointing to fans.
Klay Thompson over the last 5 games:
21 PTS – 61% FG – 5/8 3PM
20 PTS – 44% FG – 6/12 3PM
18 PTS – 50% FG – 3/7 3PM
41 PTS – 61% FG – 10/13 3PM
20 PTS – 50% FG – 4/10 3PM pic.twitter.com/4gFf6d7Gok— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) November 27, 2022
But maybe Thompson is back to normal after all this time.
Over his last five games, Thompson has scored 21, 20, 18, 41, and 20 points.
He has reached 60% from the field twice and is scoring much better from beyond the three-point line.
Thompson is looking like Thompson again and it’s no surprise that the Warriors are playing much better.
Thompson’s Totals
These are some impressive numbers coming from Thompson.
It’s wild to think that he was scoring in the single digits when 2022-23 began.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are starting to win a lot more.
They have triumphed in four of their last five games.
It’s great news that Thompson is feeling himself a lot more and Golden State is obviously benefitting from this.
But they will only be able to return to the Finals if everyone on the roster is in good shape.
Still, Thompson playing well again is a huge relief for Warriors fans – they were worried that he would never be playing like he used to.
Now everyone is paying close attention to see if this resurgence is here to stay and if the tough times are finally forever behind Thompson.
