The overall Houston sports scene was strong just a couple of years ago.
In relation to football, the Houston Texans were making the playoffs and seemed like a contender.
Then it all went wrong.
Fan favorite J.J. Watt left for Arizona, and the whole fiasco with Deshaun Watson has left the Texans a shell of their former self.
This season, bad cannot describe how disastrous the Texans’ season has been so far.
They are 1-10-1 so far this year.
Their sole win came against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, and their tie happened in Week 1 against Indianapolis.
They have fallen far since then.
But, having a bad season has its benefits, like having the number one pick in the NFL Draft.
The Houston Texans play the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans in their next three games.
Losing all three wouldn't officially clinch the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft — but it gets them awfully close.
The Texans also own the Browns 1st-round pick.

The Race To Be The Worst
As of writing, the one-win Texans are at least two wins behind the next worst set of teams.
Some of their opponents in their final games of the year include the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Dallas Cowboys, who Houston play next week
It is expected that they will lose all three of these games, further cementing their position as the worst team in football and holder of the number one pick.
Having this pick means that the whole board is theirs.
They can choose anyone.
Good advice is for them to take a quarterback.
It may not be much, but it’s a start to help them rebuild.
