It’s tough for Seattle Seahawks fans to remain optimistic nowadays.
After all, they’ve lost two franchise icons in Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner to the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams, respectively.
Likewise, they are playing in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL because the Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers all made the playoffs last year.
There was a time when the Seahawks were a shoo-in for the postseason.
This time, the tables have turned and they might not make a playoff return any time soon.
Failing to consistently draft quality players, especially in the first round, will set them back for a number of seasons.
But they must start somewhere in making their way back to contention.
For now, it looks like they will be having Drew Lock, Geno Smith, and Jacob Eason on their quarterback depth chart.
They showed interest in Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo but decided to not engage in trade talks.
Likewise, they are also creating more cap space, as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed.
The #Seahawks restructured former #Broncos DT Shelby Harris’ contract to create $3,260,588 in cap room, source said.

Rapoport tweeted, “The #Seahawks restructured former #Broncos DT Shelby Harris‘ contract to create $3,260,588 in cap room, source said.”
The team converted portions of his $7.5 million salary into a signing bonus.
However, the restructuring will add to his $9 million cap hit for the 2023 season.
Clearing Room For DK Metcalf?
Harris’ contract restructuring might not be the last from the Seahawks as they try to clear room for DK Metcalf’s mega-extension.
Metcalf did not attend the mandatory minicamp in hopes of getting a lucrative extension.
He is in the final year of his rookie contract and he doesn’t qualify for a fifth-year option because he was drafted in the second round.
Therefore, the Seahawks might convert more money to clear space for their star wide receiver.

By saying they “might not’ make the playoffs, you are also saying they might. Why gear all your articles so negatively?? Fans actually do like positive spins too, in fact, I prefer it. Life outside of sports (it’s just a game) is already tough enough, I don’t need my entertainment to always be discussed negatively too. Seahawks almost made the playoffs too – love how tough the NFC West is!

After the Seahawk managements treating of Wilson and Wagner, this 12er is seriously considering boycotting anything Seahawk including games, merchandise and support! They crapped all over the 12ers and sucked up to their lousey coach yet again! I have been there loyally since June 1974 but loyalty without reciprocity is more than any fan should continue to give them. Perhaps I will root for whichever team they are playing each week instead for the next 48 years!
