The New Orleans Saints got much better at the quarterback position this offseason.
They signed Derek Carr to lead the way going forward, putting them over the top in one of the least competitive divisions in the National Football League.
Carr still has plenty left in the tank and should give them a couple of competitive seasons at the very least.
However, he’s not a superstar, and the Saints need to consider all their options for the future.
With that in mind, it seems like they could target one of the most intriguing prospects in this class with their 29th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, they’re set to meet with Tennessee star Hendon Hooker, who continues to rise in several big boards.
#Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is flying today for a visit to the #Saints tomorrow, source said. Coming off a clean ACL tear, Hooker's prospects for the 2023 season are positive. New Orleans picks 29th.

Hooker was originally considered the fifth-best QB prospect behind Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis, but doubts about Levis and his intriguing potential have changed that situation.
Notably, he’s fresh off an ACL tear, so teams are obviously being quite cautious about him, but he’s got the athletics traits to be a star at the next level.
Perhaps the biggest knock on him as a prospect is the fact that he didn’t play in an NFL-style offense, so he might need a year or two on the sidelines before being remotely ready to play.
Fortunately, the Saints can afford to be patient with him, so he would be a no-brainer high-risk/low-reward pick late in the first round for them.
