After trimming their roster to 53 players, the Baltimore Ravens must address one major concern.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson still doesn’t have a contract extension 11 days before the 2022 season starts.
He will play the 2022 season under the fifth-year option exercised by the team, giving him $23 million.
Both parties hope that a deal will be done in the coming days.
However, Jackson won’t come cheap, being a former league MVP and the anchor of the Ravens’ offense.
Reports revealed that he was offered more money than what Kyler Murray got from his contract extension.
But Jackson didn’t sign and wanted a fully-guaranteed contract instead.
On the other hand, there are some positions wherein the Ravens need more help, like wide receiver.
Perhaps that’s why Baltimore is moving money around lately, as shared by ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

Hensley tweeted, “A month after restructuring CB Marlon Humphrey, the Ravens do the same with OT Ronnie Stanley. The Ravens have created a total of $13.4M by restructuring Humphrey and Stanley.”
He quoted his colleague Field Yates who posted, “The Ravens converted $8.465M of LT Ronnie Stanley’s base salary into a signing bonus, creating $6.34875M in 2022 cap space, per source.”
Meanwhile, the Ravens converted $8.9 million of Humphrey’s $10 million base salary into a signing bonus, creating $7.1 million in cap space.
It also reduced the cornerback’s 2022 cap hit to $10.2 million.
Humphrey And Stanley Bouncing Back From Injury
Last season, Humphrey prematurely ended his season after 12 games due to a pectoral muscle injury.
The one-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler finished the season with 44 solo tackles, 13 passes defended, one interception, and one forced fumble.
Meanwhile, Stanley became an All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2019, a year wherein Pro Football Focus called him “the best pass-blocking tackle in the NFL.”
However, he only played one game last season because of a season-ending ankle injury that required surgery.
