The Detroit Pistons have been one of the worst teams in the NBA over the past few seasons.
Each year they seem to be non-competitive and are in contention for the first overall pick.
While part of their issue is that their roster is not very good, the other problem may be their coaching.
For the last five seasons, they have employed Dwane Casey as their head coach.
He took them to the playoffs in 2018-19, but they got swept in the first round.
Since then it has been nothing but downhill for the Pistons.
This offseason the team decided to move on from Casey and they are still searching for their next head coach.
According to Bleacher Report and insider Shams Charania, the Pistons are “seriously pursuing” Monty Williams as head coach.

Williams was the coach of the Phoenix Suns for the past four seasons.
He led them to a 194-115 record and took them to the NBA Finals in the 2020-21 season.
It makes sense for the Pistons to look for an experienced coach to take over their team.
Detroit has one of the youngest teams in the NBA and they need a veteran coach in the locker room.
The Pistons have a couple of top draft picks on their roster.
Each of those players has a bright future.
Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Jalen Duran, and James Wiseman are a few of their young assets.
While this Pistons team is still a few years away from competing, they need to get the coach right before they can turn the franchise around.
