Dave Dombrowski has always been a straight-forward guy as a general manager: his team has a need, he goes out and fills it.
It’s that simple: he is not one to waste time.
The Philadelphia Phillies‘ baseball head saw his team lose the World Series with the Houston Astros.
He saw how his rotation didn’t quite live up to the hype.
He witnessed how his bullpen wasn’t quite as sharp as it was in previous rounds.
He watched the offensively-challenged Bryson Stott play shortstop.
Well, once the offseason started, he went out and brought in solutions to all those needs.
“So, over the last two days, the Phillies have added: Trea Turner, Taijuan Walker, Matt Strahm. Three of their most necessary holes filled within the span of 32 hours. A pretty solid offseason thus far for Dave Dombrowski and Company — to say the least,” Phillies reporter Alex Carr tweeted.

Walker is a nice addition to bolster the middle of the rotation, where the Phillies could be considered vulnerable (after aces Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola).
Three Fantastic Additions For The NL Champs
The right-hander posted a 3.49 ERA in 157.1 frames with the New York Mets in 2022.
He suffered some injury issues and was able to overcome them to finish with solid numbers.
Strahm is coming over from the Boston Red Sox to fortify the bullpen.
The left-hander had a 3.83 in 44.2 innings with the Sox, adding 52 strikeouts.
He provides a strikeout artist to a bullpen that already has Seranthony Dominguez, Jose Alvarado, and others.
The prize of the offseason, however, is probably Turner.
The shortstop signed a huge 11-year, $300 million deal after hitting .298 with 21 homers, 27 stolen bases, 101 runs, and 100 RBI with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
His presence gives the Phillies another weapon to a lineup that already has Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos, Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, and Jean Segura.
An excellent offseason indeed, and there could be more to come.
