The Philadelphia Phillies showed the world that getting to the playoffs with the best record in baseball is important, but definitely not a requirement.
Philly won 87 games and advanced all the way to the World Series, just like the 2021 Atlanta Braves had 88 victories and won it all.
Despite the Phillies’ failure to win the Fall Classic against the Houston Astros, they were competitive and showed the heart of a champion.
The organization is very pleased with what it saw from its players, manager Rob Thomson, and his coaching staff.
As a result, they will all be brought back to fight for the title in 2023.
“Per the Phillies, all of their big league coaches will be returning for the 2023 season,” Phillies insider Alex Coffey tweeted.

Thomson is the manager, and he will have the same coaches he had at his disposal in 2022: Mike Calitri, Caleb Cotham, Brian Kaplan, David Lundquist, Kevin Long, Jason Camilli, Dusty Wathan, Paco Figueroa, Bobby Dickerson, Brad Flanders, and Hector Rabago.
The Phillies Trust Their Manager, Players, And Coaching Staff
Those are the men in charge of helping Thomson with on-field decisions and all aspects of the game: hitting, pitching, and other positions such as first base coach, third base coach, and bullpen coach.
He showed his worth this year by taking the Phillies in early June with a 22-29 record and getting them into the postseason, even without NL MVP Bryce Harper when he was out for a while with a fracture.
The road to the postseason doesn’t get any easier for Philadelphia: the New York Mets and the Braves are still top contenders, as are the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Other teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the San Diego Padres remain the mix, too.
The Phillies are good enough to make another run next year, though.
