The New England Patriots are officially bringing a familiar face back to the organization.
Although this move was technically announced in the week, the team has now made the move official.

Bill O’Brien is officially the Patriots’ new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
O’Brien is coming from the University of Alabama, which, similar to the Patriots organization, has a rich history and culture of winning.
The hiring of O’Brien couldn’t come at a better time for the Patriots, considering that Mac Jones took a small step back in 2022.
By reuniting Jones and O’Brien, the team is hoping that Jones will be able to play up to the level that the team has expected of him.
After all, he was their first-round draft pick in 2021.
Whenever a quarterback is drafted in the first round, expectations are often much higher on them than on other quarterbacks, given their draft capital and position.
A first-round pick on any player is a big investment for a team.
Because Jones has underwhelmed in his first two seasons, the Patriots might be growing impatient with him, which could be another reason to bring in O’Brien.
Before O’Brien’s time at Alabama, he was the head coach of the Houston Texans, and before that, was the OC and quarterbacks coach for the Patriots.
The Patriots organization is used to a winning culture, as they experienced that for over 20 years with Tom Brady as their quarterback.
With any luck, O’Brien will be the catalyst for Jones, helping propel the Patriots back to their winning ways.
