The Green Bay Packers have been shrouded in speculation throughout the 2022 NFL season.
Will Aaron Rodgers play another season for the Packers?
Is the current front office and coaching regime the best fit for the organization?
Coach Matt LaFleur had an answer in Monday’s afternoon presser.
If Aaron Rodgers wants to play next season, does Matt LaFleur want him as the Packers starting QB?
“Yeah, absolutely. Of course.”

Although Rodgers has yet to make a statement regarding his 2023 status, his coach will at least want him to continue playing for another season.
If there wasn’t a Jordan Love-sized elephant in the room, this likely wouldn’t have been a question.
Rodgers was set to be a career Packer until the Packers drafted Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Wrinkle In Rodgers’ Career
After the Packers drafted Love, there was speculation in 2020 that Rodgers was washed up, and that he was on his way out of the door.
Naturally, Rodgers responded by winning back-to-back MVP awards and led the Packers to consecutive 13-3 seasons in 2020 and 2021.
While the Packers aren’t winning as many games as they are traditionally used to, they continue to roll Rodgers out on the field.
Although Love is waiting in the wings, they aren’t willing to make any sort of transition up to this point.
Rodgers is the Packers’ quarterback for as long as he wants to be, and as long as his play warrants him being on the field.
The 2023 offseason should be interesting for the Packers.
Do they retain Love for a fourth season, continuing to develop him under Rodgers?
Or, do they test the market, and see if they can give the youngster a chance elsewhere?
