Those who claim that Nikola Jokic shouldn’t win MVP this season clearly haven’t watched the Denver Nuggets play.
The Serbian star has been the best player in the league this year, and it’s not even close.
He might not be the most athletic or have the flashiest moves, but Jokic’s impact has gone beyond measure, and you don’t need to look at a bunch of advanced metrics to realize it.
As a matter of fact, there’s one simple stat that could summarize Jokic’s historical season and MVP case this year.
The Nuggets are currently riding a 27-game winning streak when Jokic has a triple-double, the longest of such in NBA history.

Jokic is on the verge of joining Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook as the only players to average a triple-double for a full season, becoming the first center to pull that incredible feature off.
Also, these are not just empty stats, as the Nuggets continue to ride on top of the Western Conference and are likely to clinch the first seed in the West.
Jokic is no longer the defensive liability he used to be.
If anything, he’s become a solid weak-side defender and rim protector, even if he’s never going to be fast enough to keep up with some guards on the perimeter.
More than that, his offensive repertoire is something we had never seen, becoming the league’s first point-center.
You may or may not be a fan of the Nuggets, but not even the pettiest person can deny Jokic’s MVP case right now.
