For decades, every NFL game has been available on the air or on cable television, but lately, the league has moved some of its games to streaming services.
Last season, Thursday games were available on Amazon Prime, and for the 2023 campaign, the league will start to broadcast games exclusively on Peacock.

The first such contest will feature Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills against Justin Herbert’s Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.
Sports and television in general have been migrating to online streaming services in general in recent years, and with the proliferation of such services, as well as the dominance of social media, some are predicting that cable sports and news broadcasts will disappear within a couple of decades.
The Bills, thanks to Allen’s excellence, have finished first in the AFC East in each of the last three years and have become perennial Super Bowl contenders, but in each of these last three years, those Super Bowl hopes have flamed out early.
Last season, they got rolled in the Divisional round by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, 27-10, and some are starting to wonder if they have what it takes to go all the way.
The Bills also have old demons to exorcise, as they lost four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s and have never won a world championship since the AFL-NFL merger.
The Chargers, meanwhile, have their own decades-old demons to slay, especially after blowing a 27-0 lead and losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
