The NFL has seen plenty of history made during the 2022-23 season.
From epic comebacks to passing records broken, this season has been one for the story books.
However, the history-making for the NFL isn’t over with yet.
Super Bowl 57 will mark an important historic marker for the NFL.
The NFL announced on Twitter how this is the first Super Bowl where both starting quarterbacks are Black.

The appearance marks Patrick Mahomes’ third time in a Super Bowl while it marks Jalen Hurts’ first time reaching a Super Bowl.
While the appearance by Hurts and Mahomes is historic, it also marks 35 years since the appearance of Doug Williams in Super Bowl XXII.
His appearance back in 1988 made him the first ever Black quarterback to start in a Super Bowl.
With his stellar performance, he became the Super Bowl MVP and the first Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
While Williams’ career saw him getting very few opportunities, Washington gave him the grandest stage to showcase his talent.
With 35 years passing since his historic moment, Hurts and Mahomes celebrate a new historic moment for the NFL.
While Williams made his history in troubling times for Black quarterbacks, the two young quarterbacks are making their history in a league that now gives Black quarterbacks more opportunities.
However, the road to Super Bowl 57 wasn’t easy for either of these star quarterbacks.
While people doubted them during their careers, they are proving to be a success story no one can deny.
