Is there something in the water out West?
For one reason or the other, the NFC West has been losing quarterbacks left and right due to injuries.
Four NFC West quarterbacks are likely done for the year:
* Kyler Murray (knee)
* Matthew Stafford (neck)
* Jimmy Garoppolo (foot)
* Trey Lance (ankle)— Kyle Odegard (@Kyle_Odegard) December 13, 2022
Four separate NFC West quarterbacks will likely not see the field for the rest of the 2022 NFL regular season.
Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals, Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams, and Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance of the San Francisco 49ers have all fallen to brutal injuries this season.
Knocking on wood here, Seattle Seahawks fans!
The Seahawks are the only team in the NFC West this season to have the same starting quarterback the whole year in Geno Smith.
Injuries Plague An Entire Division
While the 49ers and Seahawks have been able to overcome injuries to marquee players on their respective teams, the Rams and Cardinals have not had the same fortune.
Collectively, the Rams and Cardinals have a combined record of 8-18 this season.
The Rams have had Stafford out due to injury, not to mention their star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who has been injured as well.
While Murray has only been out for one week, the Cardinals’ entire roster has been riddled with injuries this season.
A few notable names from the Cardinals this season include tight end Zach Ertz, center Rodney Hudson, linebacker Nick Vigil, and running back Darrel Williams.
Fortunately for the Cardinals, they should be in a great spot for the 2023 NFL campaign, assuming that these players will be able to return to their pre-injured form.
