Surprising just about everyone in the league, the Brooklyn Nets are now the second-best team in the Eastern Conference.
They started the season in a painful and discouraging way but they have really turned things around under new head coach Jacque Vaughn and are now 27-13.
Ben Simmons, who was creating a lot of headaches for the team at the start of the season, has been doing pretty impressive things too, securing a decent amount of rebounds and assists just as Vaughn wanted.

Yes, the Nets have been winning a lot of games but there is one surefire way to know they will probably lose.
Brooklyn is currently 1-7 when Simmons makes a free throw, according to the number crunching from NBA Memes.
Sure enough, with the exception of one game, the Nets have lost every single time Simmons sank a free throw.
Obviously, this is just one of those weird factoids that don’t really hold any water or mean anything but it’s fascinating nonetheless.
When you look into Simmons’ season, you see that Simmons has not been to the charity stripe as much as he has in the past.
His last full season, 2020-21, saw Simmons shoot an average of 3 free throws a game.
This season, that number has decreased to just 0.6.
This shows that Simmons has been better about getting fouled and has put a stronger emphasis on making assists rather than taking shots and getting swatted down by opponents.
Sure enough, he is only putting up 7.7 points a game, compared to 14.3 from his last full year in the league.
