Fans wanting a crazy and unexpected NBA season are surely happy right now.
That’s because the young season has been a wild ride so far, with some huge unanticipated successes, losses, and developments.
There is still so much time in the year and more changes are surely coming but, right now, we are looking at a league that few people expected.

That is especially true for the league’s Western Conference, which has a lineup that is quite a shock.
While it is not startling to see teams like the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets sit toward the top, no one thought the Portland Trail Blazers would be the best team in the west with a 9-4 record.
And who thought the Utah Jazz would be fourth with 10-5?
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are clinging to the 13th spot, the Los Angeles Lakers are behind that at 14th, and the Los Angeles Clippers are barely in the top 8 – for now.
What a world.
Portland Propelled
Numerous people have said that Portland and Utah’s great starts won’t last forever and they will eventually come back down to Earth and give more middling performances.
But that time certainly hasn’t come yet.
Both of those teams look like the real deal: they might not end in first and fourth place, respectively, but they should not be counted out, and their victories so far should not be considered pure flukes.
But what about the Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and other teams that are struggling?
Will they be able to rebound and get back on track?
It’s hard to tell when there are so many competitive teams in the leagues now.
Things in the Western Conference sure are unpredictable right now – but they’re also very exciting.
