For much of the young NBA season, the Phoenix Suns have sat at the top of the Western Conference standings.

They were playing with might and skill and seemingly weren’t budging from the top of the rankings.

But that was before they got trounced by the Dallas Mavericks a few days ago, and then the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.

Now, they have fallen – and another team has surpassed.

The New Orleans Pelicans are now the top team in the West with a 16-8 record.

Of course, the Suns aren’t that far behind them with their own impressive 16-9 record.

That means that the next few days will be very consequential for the West because these two teams are set to face off two times.

Prepare for some seriously intense playing as both teams battle for superiority.

The Best In The West

Seeing the New Orleans Pelicans at the top of the Western Conference standings feels very exciting for fans, who have been waiting a long time for this moment.

Over the last few years, the team has compiled a fantastic roster with Herbert Jones, Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, Zion Williamson, and others.

This is one powerful and scrappy team that is better than it has been in years.

But how long will their reign atop the West last?

The Suns are not a bad team, even with their recent embarrassing defeats, so they won’t give up without a serious fight.

It should also be noted that the Memphis Grizzlies are tied with the Suns right now and just .5 games back from the Pelicans.

In other words, the Western Conference might be very fluid for the foreseeable future.
