The NBA is reminding fans that there will be a lot of basketball before the official season starts in October.
The preseason tips off on September 30 and then ends two weeks later on October 14, just days before the 2022-23 commences.
Luckily, fans will be able to watch some of the preseason games on national television.
TNT will air the Detroit Pistons versus the New York Knicks and the New Orleans Pelicans against the Chicago Bulls on October 4.
Meanwhile, ESPN will air five games, starting with the doubleheader of the Minnesota Timberwolves versus the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat battling the Brooklyn Nets on October 6.
What should we expect from those games?
Preseason Fun
We don’t know what we will get with the preseason this year.
Typically, these games feature some of the biggest stars in the league – but only sparingly.
Instead, you’ll see a lot of players who don’t generally start, working out rotations and plays for the coaching staff who are gauging their plans and seeing what works and what doesn’t.
The preseason is a way for players to shake off the rust, coaches to get their plans in order, and fans to get fired up.
It is smart that of the NBA to work out a national television deal for some of these games because people are eager for more basketball.
The success of this year’s Summer League proves just how much people miss the NBA.
These preseason games could be huge hits this year.
