If you’re a fan of the NBA then you know the 2022 NBA Draft is this Thursday, June 23.
And if you live in New York City, you are definitely aware of that fact because of the 500 drones that lit up the Big Apple’s skyline.

That’s right, the NBA used hundreds of flying drones to advertise the upcoming draft.
The drones came together to tell the city that “the future starts now” as well as create the NBA logo and animations related to the draft.
It was an impressive display of modern technology but will it actually attract many more viewers to the draft?
NBA’s Big Night
The draft is a very big deal for the league and especially for the rookies entering it.
It’s a night where dozens of players’ futures are set and teams’ fortunes can be radically changed.
However, it doesn’t always bring in a big audience.
Over the years, the NBA has tried to make the draft must-watch TV and has put a lot of money into raising awareness of it.
But it’s remained something rather niche and specifically for die-hard NBA fans.
If you’re reading The Cold Wire then you probably know the top three young prospects for Thursday’s draft.
But if you’re just a casual fan, it’s unlikely that you know the most popular rookies’ names – and it’s also unlikely that you care that much.
Therefore, the draft is still something that doesn’t get the mainstream audience fired up.
Still, for those who live and breathe basketball, it’s something that has to be watched.
This year promises another great draft with some really talented young men stepping up to take over the league.
