Bartolo Colon was quite a well-traveled pitcher during his career.
He came up to the Major Leagues with the Cleveland Indians in 1997 and quickly became one of baseball’s most dominant hurlers.
During his career, he was a four-time All-Star and even won a Cy Young in 2005 with the Los Angeles Angels.
However, much of the excitement of his career took place when he was a member of the New York Mets.
In 2016, he hit his first career home run at Petco Park at the age of 43.
On August 26, the Mets will hold a pregame ceremony to honor Colon after he officially announced his retirement from baseball.
Hector Gomez provided the news on Twitter.

Colon spent just three seasons with the Mets from 2014-16.
However, he still was a fan favorite and could also be trusted in big games.
Fittingly, the Angels, one of Colon’s former teams, will be in town playing the Mets that weekend.
The veteran right-hander also spent time with the Montreal Expos, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers.
Often affectionately referred to as “Big Sexy,” Colon won 247 games over the course of his 21-year big-league career and posted a 4.12 ERA, striking out 2,535 batters over 3,461.2 innings of work.
But with the Mets, the phenomenon took on a life of its own.
The right-hander played a key role in getting the Mets to the World Series in 2015 and back to the postseason again in 2016.
Colon pitched until 2018, but has now officially announced his retirement from baseball.
It’s a safe bet that he’ll receive a warm hand from the Mets faithful.
