For the first time since 2016, there will be October baseball in Queens.
With a 7-0 win at American Family Field over the Milwaukee Brewers, the New York Mets became the third team to secure their spot in the big dance this coming October.
Max Scherzer took the mound and threw six perfect innings in his return from the Injured List, striking out nine and earning his 10th win of the season, as he lowered his ERA to 2.15.
After the game, the Mets decided to do a little celebration in the visitors clubhouse before they shifted their focus to wrapping up the race in the NL East.

Mets Are Postseason Bound
It’s been six years, but the Mets are finally postseason bound again.
In a year where they had stacked a rotation with Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, and Chris Bassitt, the Mets looked to be a force right out of the gate.
They had to begin the season without deGrom, who was injured in spring training.
In May, Scherzer went down with an oblique injury.
But through it all, the Mets remained a force and continued to take care of business.
Last night was no exception.
Pete Alonso opened the scoring with a huge three-run homer in the top of the fourth.
The Mets didn’t look back from there.
The offense, the bullpen, and the rotation have been solid all year, and some key trade deadline additions also helped them along the way.
With the win, the Mets also helped the St. Louis Cardinals out a little bit, who now have a magic number of seven to close out the Brewers and win the NL Central.
The job isn’t done yet, but the Mets have checked returning to the postseason off the to-do list and have earned the right to celebrate.
