The New York Mets are not off to a very good start this season.
Though it isn’t quite on the same level of the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, the team has not performed up to par.
In fact, after Thursday’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark, the team now sits at 18-20, 7.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves, who lead the National League East.
To make matters worse, the Mets were shut out by the Reds, losing by a final score of 5-0.
On Twitter, SNY, the TV home of the Mets, pointed out a sad fact, that the Mets have already been shut out seven times this season.

They were only shut out eight times all of last season.
Last year, the Mets won 101 games and finished in second place in the NL East as the top Wild Card team.
This season has been anything but a success so far.
New York has lost seven of their last 10 games and are slipping in the standings.
With stars such as Brandon Nimmo, Eduardo Escobar, Pete Alonso, Starling Marte, Jeff McNeil, and Mark Canha in their lineup, the Mets certainly have the pieces to turn things around and produce better results offensively.
But the results have not been there this season for a team with very high expectations.
Now in fourth place in their division, the Mets will need to start winning some more games in order to catch up with the Braves.
They led the division by 10.5 games last year before the Braves ultimately stole it away from them.
