The Dallas Mavericks have the wind in their sails as the new NBA season starts.
They are coming off of one of their best seasons in years which saw them go all the way to the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
True, the team didn’t end up beating the Warriors but they showed a lot of spirit and fight all season long.
And the team’s leader, Luka Doncic, seems to only be getting better, with many thinking he could have his first MVP season in 2022-23.

While the team is certainly focused on the present and the promising future ahead, they are also going to take some time to celebrate one of their biggest heroes ever.
The Mavs will unveil a statue of Dirk Nowitzki on Christmas Day 2022 as the team faces off against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nowitzki was the most crucial part of the Mavericks for years and led them to a championship.
He remains an important part of the team to this day.
Acknowledging Nowitzki
During his career, Nowitzki averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists a game.
He was the team’s leader and helped them claim a Finals victory in 2011 when he also earned his Finals MVP trophy.
He was a 14-time All-Star while playing in the league and was known for his unique versatility despite his big size.
Since his retirement, many NBA stars have attempted to mimic his one-of-a-kind jump shot but very few have accomplished that.
Nowitzki hasn’t disappeared since retiring from the team.
In fact, he is one of the reasons why Doncic has gotten so good over the years, as he has served as a mentor to the young Slovenian superstar.
Nowitzki still loves his team even if he’s no longer playing for it.
