As you recall, the Dallas Mavericks had an amazing season last year, going all the way to the Western Conference Finals after decimating the Phoenix Suns in a shocking semifinal.
That was the end of a great season for the team and especially its lead star, Luka Doncic.
Coming into 2022-23, the hopes were high among Dallas fans, who thought that Donic could have an MVP season and the team could again tower over the rest of the West.
Right now, only half of that is true.

While Doncic is playing some incredible ball and is a frontrunner for league MVP, the team is stuck in a rut.
The Mavericks are 1-5 in their last 6 games, falling to teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, and Boston Celtics.
Those are tough teams obviously but they are teams that the Mavs will need to beat in the future if they hope to enter the playoffs in good standing.
What does Dallas need to do to get it together?
What’s Missing For The Mavericks?
Doncic is clearly the best player on the team and no one would argue with that.
He has been remarkably consistent so far this season too.
New addition Christian Wood has also been a breath of fresh air and has done a lot coming off the bench.
Other players on the team have shined at times as well, but not consistently.
It feels as if each guy on the Mavs has a particular night to impress, then they pass off the responsibility to someone else.
If every player on the team was regularly great then Doncic would have more stars to rely on and the Mavs would be doing better.
They are facing the Warriors, Pistons, Knicks, and Suns in the days ahead.
Can the Mavericks secure a few more wins?
