Kyrie Irving has now been part of the Dallas Mavericks for several weeks after a shocking trade from the Brooklyn Nets.
When Irving came to Dallas, there were more than a few people who weren’t sure what sort of impact he’d have on the team.
Would he help Luka Doncic and create one of the best backcourts in the league or would he come up a bit short?

So far, Doncic and Irving are just 1-3 as a duo.
In fact, their only win as a unit was against the dreadful San Antonio Spurs.
Their latest loss was surely their most painful: even though Doncic scored 26 and Irving put up 21, the Mavericks still fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday after leading by 27 points.
Fans of Dallas are now a bit nervous that this pairing won’t be as great as they had hoped.
Those worries might be a tad premature: Doncic and Irving could still end up becoming one of the best things to ever happen to the Mavericks.
Sometimes new lineups take time to find their rhythm and start working in tandem.
The problem is that the postseason is rapidly approaching and the last thing the Mavericks need is for Doncic and Irving to be working out their issues in the middle of the playoffs.
They still have time to secure many wins and this rough start might soon be firmly in their rearview mirror.
But this blockbuster duo has yet to give fans a lot to believe in.
