The Miami Marlins didn’t have much to cheer about in 2022, and as of now, that may be the case in 2023.
One silver lining though is the fact that they have a very solid group of starting pitchers.
Sandy Alcantara, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, headlines that group of starters.
But Miami also has Pablo Lopez, Edward Cabrera, Johnny Cueto, Jesus Luzardo, and Braxton Garrett, with Eury Perez and Sixto Sanchez potentially on the way.
On Twitter, MLB insider Danny Vietti took note of all the Marlins pitching options, showing just how stacked the team’s rotation could be in 2023.
Marlins starting rotation options:
• Sandy Alcantara
• Pablo Lopez
• Jesus Luzardo
• Johnny Cueto
• Edward Cabrera
• Braxton Garrett(Others: Eury Perez, Sixto Sanchez?)

This is one area where the Marlins appear to be all set for the near future.
It’s also an area they could potentially trade from in order to add a bat or two and turn the team into a contender.
They still may be a few years away, but for now, the pitching staff is in very good shape.
The signing of Cueto also gives them a veteran presence and somebody who not only has been an ace in the past, but is coming off of a bounce-back season, one in which he went 8-10 with a 3.35 ERA.
But with so much young talent in the rotation and on the pitching staff, the future appears bright for the Marlins, and it stands to reason why the team could potentially take some steps towards relevance in the near future.
Pitching is not an issue right now for the Marlins, and it might not be for some time.
