Deals for wide receivers in the NFL have resulted in big paydays for players.
These deals have seen players like Tyreek Hill and Terry McLaurin get the money they were looking for.
However, San Francisco 49ers star receiver Deebo Samuel is still without a new contract.
With other receivers getting their new deals, the market for him is now set in 2022.
Wide Receiver Deals In The NFL Give Samuel A Market For His Worth
With those mega deals being handed out to receivers of all types, it gives Samuel a price point of his worth.
It also gives the 49ers a point as well if they choose to trade their superstar receiver.
However, reports are saying San Francisco has no plans on parting ways with their top offensive weapon.

With them trying to hammer out a new deal with Deebo, it could also be costly for them.
Both Cooper Kupp and Davante Adams, two receivers with higher receiving yards in 2022 over Samuel, got huge contracts.
Kupp’s contract is worth $110 over five years, while Adams’ is worth $141.25 over five years.
With these players’ contracts, it’s possible that Samuel could receive a contract near that amount.
However, the question is if San Francisco can afford a huge contract deal with them having players like Jimmy Garoppolo and Nick Bosa.
How Much Could He Make And Can The 49ers Afford It?
While salary cap might not seem like an issue for the Rams, it’s an issue with the 49ers.
They currently have only $4.69 million of cap space to work with this season.
However, their 2023 projected cap space is around $25 million.
But it’s important to note that 2023 is the year Samuel’s current contract ends.
So this gives them very little wiggle room, especially with Robbie Gould and Dee Ford set to become free agents in 2023.
However, Ford has worked with the 49ers before with restructuring his contract to help the team.

So this means the 49ers might need to work on a deal with him to seal a deal with Samuel.
As for the receiver’s potential payday, it could be around that same $100 million mark of Adams and Kupp.
While he had fewer yards and receptions than those two players, he could have easily set records had he gotten the receptions those two had last season.
With that in mind, it gives him ammo to demand a contract close to that of those two players.
However, rumors were he wants a deal of only being used as a receiver, not a Swiss army knife.

But those rumors only came out after he requested a trade from the 49ers in April.
49ers Can’t Afford To Lose Samuel
While the trade request by the star receiver is still in place, the team can’t afford to lose him.
Even if he doesn’t play as a running option for them, he’s still a major threat at receiver.
Trading him would hurt the team and their playoff chances in 2022.
That’s why the 49ers must do everything possible to keep him in this expensive wide receiver market.
