The Seattle Mariners may be on a magic carpet ride this October.
They absolutely destroyed the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Wild Card Series and are set to open up the ALDS this afternoon against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
They’ll have Logan Gilbert starting today against Justin Verlander, but an announcement was made about who would ultimately be starting Game 2 of the series.
In reality, it comes as no surprise.
Seattle will be sending Luis Castillo, who was nothing short of dominant in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series, to the hill for Thursday’s game.

Castillo Gets The Call For Game 2
This could end up being a major advantage for the Mariners, especially if they win Game 1 this afternoon.
It’ll be another great pitching matchup regardless of what happens, as the Astros will counter with Framber Valdez.
But the Mariners are lucky enough to have Castillo available on full rest for this series.
That would mean that if the series reaches a Game 5, they could start Castillo again, though it would be on short rest because of the schedule.
Still, Castillo on the mound tomorrow is a good thing for the Mariners.
He went 8-6 with a 2.99 ERA in 25 starts between the Mariners and Cincinnati Reds.
But if the Mariners win Game 1 today, all the momentum is on their side as they send their ace to the hill for Game 2.
Either way, Castillo will have a chance to face the Astros in what could end up being a must-win game for the Mariners, or a chance for them to take a 2-0 lead home for Game 3.
It should be yet another fun pitching matchup.
