There is no other way to put this: the Los Angeles Lakers were having a very rough time shooting on Tuesday night.
Maybe it was opening night nerves or the short flight up from LA or the fact that they were taking on the reigning champs but the Lakers were all sorts of clumsy when it came to making baskets.
In fact, their three-point percentage was shockingly bad.
The team landed just 10 of their 40 attempted treys, giving them a painful 25% from downtown.
The Lakers have not been known for their three-point skills but this was still an embarrassing stat.

It’s made even more embarrassing by the fact that they used to have a player who was doing quite well in that department: Carmelo Anthony.
One fan took to Twitter to lament the lack of Anthony, saying, “Lakers shooting 1/15 from the three point line. But don’t sign this guy, he can’t defend!”
This will not be the last time that fans complain about LA’s shooting and their decision to not resign Anthony.
No Contract For Carmelo
Anthony served a year with the Lakers in 2021-22 and was a rather important part of the team.
But the front office decided to not offer him an extension in the summer and he became a free agent.
He is currently without an NBA home.
Anthony isn’t perfect and, yes, he has issues defending.
Additionally, age is catching up with him so he isn’t able to play as much as he used to.
But he can be quite reliable, especially when he gets in his zone and sets up a hot three-pointer.
In 2021-22, Anthony was good for 37.5% of his threes, which is a tick down from the year before (40.9%).
37.5% isn’t perfect by any means but it’s a whole lot better than 25%.
