To say that the Los Angeles Lakers have had a bad season is quite an understatement.
True, they have won five of their last six games but the team is still at just 7-11 and towards the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
This has led some people – a lot of them, in fact – to suggest that the Lakers need to make a monster trade to improve their roster.
Should Russell Westbrook be traded away, or maybe Kendrick Nunn or even Austin Reaves or Lonnie Walker?

Not so fast.
It sounds like LA isn’t going to be making any big moves in the near future.
Speaking on ESPN, Ramona Shelburne said that the Lakers don’t have a huge sense of urgency when it comes to making a trade.
Said Shelburne:
“They are not necessarily motivated right now to go do something big unless something big presented itself to them.”
So, it sounds like LA is going to sit and wait and not do anything unless an enticing, irresistible deal comes their way.
What are the chances of that happening?
LA In Limbo
The Lakers will not be making the Finals if they keep playing as they have been.
They have gotten better recently and the play-in tournament is possible but they are far away from being the best in the West.
The truth is that they would need quite a few more pieces to be true Finals contenders.
But they would have to give up a lot to make that happen, including Westbrook and their future draft picks.
It’s been made clear that LA does not want to part ways with those picks.
And Westbrook has become solid too, meaning the front office is liking him a lot lately.
For the first time in a long time, the Lakers think they have something promising and aren’t willing to break it up just yet.
