The Los Angeles Lakers are nowhere near being Finals contenders but they are doing better than earlier in the season.
After a big win over the Portland Trail Blazers the other night, the team is now 8-12 and has won 6 of their last 8 games.
Those are not amazing numbers, to be sure, but they are far superior to what we saw from the team at the start of the season.
Fans are cautiously optimistic, thinking that perhaps the Lakers have turned a corner and bigger, better, and brighter days are ahead.
The Lakers are 8-12, with a huge road trip ahead of them.

But those same fans are worried because the team is about to set off on a challenging road trip.
The team is starting a six-game road trip, that will have them first face off against the Milwaukee Bucks, followed by the Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Each of those teams is above .500, with only the Wizards even at 11-11.
To end their road trip, the Lakers will play against the 6-18 Detroit Pistons.
However, after the Pistons’ impressive defeat of the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, a Lakers victory against that team isn’t a sure thing.
So, will LA be able to build upon its record, or are they about to experience some serious losses again?
Road Trip Troubles?
The concept of the Lakers winning all of these games is far-fetched.
Even winning a majority of them will be tough.
Now is the time when the Lakers will need to step up and show what they are truly made of: are they a group that is getting it together and figuring out how to work as a unit or are they still sub-par?
This next week will be a very intense, anxious one for LA fans.
