The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a close but huge win on Wednesday night as they took down the New Orleans Pelicans in a thrilling overtime game.
This was exactly what Lakers fans needed.
They had been waiting a long time to see their team play like this and score a definitive and tough win.
However, the game almost didn’t go into overtime and the Lakers almost didn’t even get the chance to secure a W.
But then Matt Ryan made himself known.

With .9 seconds left and down by 3 points, Ryan grabbed an inbound pass from Austin Reaves and threw up a wild three-pointer as the buzzer sounded.
It was good and the crowd went wild.
At that moment, Ryan – who few people knew just weeks ago – became an immediate hero to millions of Lakers followers.
Relying On Ryan
Think about it: Reaves and Ryan were the two stars who led the Lakers to an overtime session and, essentially, victory.
Those are not two of the most well-known guys in the NBA.
This shows that the Lakers do have young, promising talent.
These players should be nurtured and kept close.
Ryan has been trying to play in the NBA for years and has been rejected and passed over.
Just a couple of years ago, he was driving for DoorDash and working at a cemetery to make ends meet as he attempted to break into the G League.
Now he is helping LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and other superstars earn a much-needed win.
Ryan is surely feeling victorious the day after the game, and he should be.
After two back-to-back wins, the Lakers are a bit more sure of themselves and it’s leading to some fun basketball.
