It is rare to see the Los Angeles Lakers in a position of power but that might be where they are right now with the New York Knicks.
The Lakers and Knicks have been privately discussing a trade package that would move around quite a few pieces.
And the Lakers feel like they could get the better end of the deal, considering the contracts they’d be taking on.
As more is reported on the Lakers and Knicks trade talks regarding Evan Fournier, it’s becoming more evident the Knicks are not operating from a position of power. @LakersSBN https://t.co/uE6zQemXl2

The Knicks are looking to deal away Evan Fournier and the Lakers are a possible landing spot for the star, as reported by Michael Scotto and others.
But because of Fournier’s disappointing output this season, the Lakers aren’t willing to only accept him and his contract which is worth $18.8 for next season.
Therefore, the Lakers are looking for some sort of draft compensation if they were to take on Fournier.
Oh, they’d also like Cam Reddish added to the deal.
Big Moves From The Big Apple
If the Lakers do acquire Fournier, they would lose all of their cap space headed into the summer.
That’s a big deal for the team, so they don’t want to accept Fournier unless they are getting a lot from the Knicks.
And although the Knicks do not want to, there is no speculation that they might add Reddish into the deal in order to move both contracts.
We aren’t entirely sure who the Lakers would send over in return but both Patrick Beverley and Kendrick Nunn are rumored assets that could be packing their bags.
Right now, both sides seem at a standstill and await the other to make talks more attractive.
We will soon see if this actually turns into a real deal.
