The Sacramento Kings have one of the most surprising and enjoyable success stories of the 2022-23 NBA season so far.
The team has an 11-9 record, is 6th in the East, and is doing better than they have in nearly two decades.
The season is long and there is still much to be done but, right now, they are looking like playoff contenders for the first time in ages.
Fans of the Kings are loving the team – and they are loving the beam too.

Following every victory, the team turns on a bright purple beam of light that illuminates the Sacramento sky.
Lighting the beam has become a fun event that fans throughout the NBA are enjoying.
On Wednesday night, Malik Monk was given the honor of lighting the beam following a 137-114 win over the Indiana Pacers.
But he wasn’t alone – he was assisted by none other than rapper 50 Cent.
A new NBA tradition has been born!
Monk’s Major Night
It makes sense that the Kings asked Monk to light the beam, considering he scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists during the game, second only behind Harrison Barnes.
Monk is one of the many great young stars playing for the Kings.
De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray, and others are constantly giving fans something to cheer about.
It’s been some time since the Kings were this competitive and this talented with a roster this deep.
There is great energy around Sacramento right now, both within the team, the coaching staff, and the energized fanbase.
Lighting the beam is a perfect personification of just how bright the future is looking for the team right now.
