The Jacksonville Jaguars are no longer the bottom feeders of the NFL.
In the past ten years, the Jaguars have made the playoffs twice, but, outside of those seasons, haven’t been able to find prolonged success.
Under Trevor Lawrence and company, the Jaguars will now look to be yearly contenders in the AFC South.
If the Jaguars retain Evan Engram, they'd walk out in 11 personnel like this next season:
QB: Trevor Lawrence
WR: Calvin Ridley
WR: Christian Kirk
WR: Zay Jones
RB: Travis Etienne
TE: Evan Engram https://t.co/cUN7qh0s8j— Field Yates (@FieldYates) February 15, 2023
Today, Calvin Ridley can apply to be reinstated to the league.
If his reinstatement is granted, Ridley will be able to rejoin the Jaguars, train, and get ready for the 2023 season.
Lawrence took a massive leap forward in 2022, and, if Ridley can put together a full season, Lawrence will only get that much better.
Not to mention, Evan Engram, Travis Etienne, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones are all solid weapons as well.
Last season, the Jaguars finished the season with a 9-8 record, and that was without Ridley on the roster.
The AFC South will likely belong to the Jaguars for the foreseeable future, as the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans have quarterback woes.
Lawrence, on the other hand, is tied to the Jaguars for the foreseeable future, especially if the team extends him, as many are expecting.
If Ridley is fully healthy, he will be the number one receiving option for this team.
He can take pressure off Jones and Kirk, helping Lawrence distribute the ball more efficiently given the coverage that he will likely attract.
How many more games will the Jaguars be able to win next season, knowing the effect that Ridley can have on the game?
