The drama around Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets continues.
It was just announced that the Memphis Grizzlies made “new inquiries” about acquiring the superstar forward from Brooklyn.
This isn’t very shocking news since it seems that nearly every team in the league has at least tried to talk to the Nets about getting Durant.
Yet, they all keep getting denied again and again by Brooklyn, who are downright adamant about getting the biggest, best trade package in the history of modern sports.
Shams also reporting the Grizzlies “do not appear inclined to include Jackson or Bane in a potential offer for Durant … but rather a package around their bevy of draft picks.”
Grizzlies own all their future 1sts plus a lightly protected 1st from Golden State in 2024

The Grizzlies are willing to put up a lot to get KD.
However, the front office wants to build a package around draft picks rather than players, meaning they are not inclined to include Jaren Jackson Jr. or Desmond Bane in any potential offer.
But when it comes to draft picks, they have quite a few: they own all of their first first-rounders as well as a lightly protected one from the Warriors in 2024.
In other words, the Grizzlies have many draft picks they can give to the Nets – but does it even matter?
Another No From The Nets
The Nets have said flat-out no to every single proposed deal that has come their way.
While they would be happy to take Memphis’ draft picks, they also want more than that – a lot more.
The team is dedicated to winning now, not just in the future.
Therefore, they want to land draft picks but they also want to get current NBA stars.
That’s a tall order and, so far, no team has been able to give them what they desire.
The truth is that there might not ever be the super sweet package that satisfies Brooklyn.
