The San Francisco Giants are doing everything in their power to try and re-sign left-hander Carlos Rodon.
Still, they are preparing for the possibility that Rodon ultimately walks in free agency.
This afternoon, San Francisco made another key move to strengthen their starting rotation.
According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Giants have signed veteran right-hander Ross Stripling to a two-year, $25 million deal.
Stripling appeared in 32 games with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022 and made 24 starts.
In those 32 appearances, the veteran right-hander won 10 games and posted a 3.01 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP, striking out 111 batters in 134.1 innings of work.
The 33-year-old owns a career ERA of 3.78.
Right-hander Ross Stripling and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a two-year, $25 million contract that includes an opt-out after the first season, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.
Stripling, 33, was excellent for Toronto in '22 with a 3.01 ERA and 3.11 FIP.

Giants Add Veteran Stripling
Stripling has spent the vast majority of his career with the Giants’ hated rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He received a World Series ring in 2020 after being traded to the Blue Jays mid-season.
The righty came up in 2016 and was a key piece of several great Dodgers teams, including their 2017 and 2018 World Series squads.
He was also an All-Star back in 2018.
That year, the right-hander went 8-6 and posted a 3.02 ERA in 21 starts and 33 appearances.
The Giants had signed lefty Sean Manaea to a two-year deal on Monday.
Today, they added to the depth of their starting rotation by signing Stripling.
Stripling has primarily been used as a starter during his career, but the 33-year-old has also been used out of the bullpen.
The Giants finished at .500 in 2022 and fell short of the postseason.
With Stripling now in the fold, they’ll look to try and re-sign Rodon.
