Fans are slowly seeing a Miami Dolphins team that’s hungry to return the franchise to greatness.
Their 2022-23 NFL season saw them returning to the playoffs, a first for them since the 2016-17 NFL season.
While the future is bright for the franchise, they also have a rich history.
Their history allows them to continue to stand atop the NFL with one record.
The one record which only the Dolphins can lay claim to is that of a perfect NFL season.

While the New England Patriots came close to perfection, they fell short in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants.
The next team on the list behind the Dolphins and Patriots are the 1985 Chicago Bears, who only lost one game during the regular season.
While the Patriots and Dolphins both have perfect regular season records, only the Dolphins have the perfect NFL season.
Their 1972 undefeated season has stood the test of time.
However, some will note how fewer games were played in the NFL back during their perfect season.
While this is true, it still doesn’t take away the fact how their team won 17 total games that season.
The 17 games are only two games fewer than the games played by the 2007 Patriots during their season.
With the number of games being so few, it’s hard to knock the greatness which the Dolphins established back in 1972.
While the new expanded regular season makes it difficult for perfection, NFL teams will continue to chase the perfect season.
However, until it happens, the Dolphins stand alone atop the NFL as the only perfect team in history.
