For the first time ever in a 162-game season, 12 teams will make it to the MLB postseason this October.
One spot is already filled.
The Los Angeles Dodgers punched their ticket to October with a win on Sunday.
Even after a bunch of controversy surrounding Sunday’s clinch, the Dodgers are still well ahead of the rest of the pack.
They put any concerns to rest with a win last night.
There are still 11 spots to be filled, but the Dodgers are the first team to have clinched a spot in October.
Sarah Langs of MLB.com tweeted what the playoff field looks like right now.
The Dodgers are the only team in at this point, but more will follow.

Dodgers First To Postseason
The Dodgers have been on a crazy run this season and have been better than everybody else by far.
They’re closing on not just their ninth NL West title in the last 10 years, but also 100 wins, which could possibly come before they even lose 45 games.
Los Angeles has been on an unreal pace and is miles ahead of everybody else, including the Houston Astros.
Of course, we don’t know how things will shake out in the postseason.
But regardless of how they do, the Dodgers are the first team to punch their ticket to the big dance and look like a serious threat to win their second title in the past three years.
Los Angeles won it all in 2020 and fell short in the NLCS last year against the Atlanta Braves.
They’ll look to rectify that this year and take another shot at a ring.
Right now, they’re miles ahead of the rest of the pack.
