The Deshaun Watson Sweepstakes Should Begin Soon

With major dominos in the quarterback market falling, the Houston Texans must expect a ton of calls for Deshaun Watson.

He’s the top option left after Aaron Rodgers decided to remain in Green Bay while Russell Wilson got traded to the Denver Broncos.

However, there are caveats in getting the Pro Bowl quarterback from Clemson.

First, Watson has a no-trade clause, giving him full control regarding his preferred destination.

Second, his availability remains in limbo because of the sexual misconduct cases he is facing.

But granted that he could sort out the second, every team looking for a franchise quarterback desires to have the 2020 passing yards leader.

After all, he’s one of the most talented play-callers left, unless teams would go for the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo, Jameis Winston, Mitchell Trubisky, or Gardner Minshew.

Regarding the Watson sweepstakes, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted, “This should make for a fascinating few days. Deshaun Watson’s market is strong, with the #Panthers back on the hunt and the #Seahawks in need of a top notch QB.”

Possible Teams In The Mix For Watson

The Carolina Panthers are in dire need of a quarterback because Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker, and Cam Newton won’t cut it.

Likewise, the Seattle Seahawks might use the assets they acquired from the Broncos in the Wilson trade to get him.

Watson also declared teams within his radar like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings.

Finally, the Pittsburgh Steelers might also cast their dice into the lot.

Seeing how the Watson sweepstakes will unfold should be nerve-racking.
