If the NFL season were to end today, there would be some definite shake-ups in the NFL Draft, particularly when looking at the teams with the top 10 picks.
While it shouldn’t surprise many that the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears are the first two projected picks, there are a few surprises in this list that initially stick out.
2023 NFL Draft order after 12 weeks:
1) Texans
2) Bears
3) Lions (via LAR)
4) Seahawks (via DEN)
5) Panthers
6) Eagles (via NO)
7) Cardinals
8) Packers
9) Raiders
10) Texans (via CLE)— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) November 29, 2022
For starters, the Detroit Lions have the third overall pick.
This pick was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams, which had a preseason projection of being a late first-rounder, given the Rams’ success in the Super Bowl.
Two Top-Ten Picks?
That’s right.
If the season were to end today, the Texans would not only have the number one overall pick due to their poor record but the number ten overall pick as well.
This pick comes in from the Cleveland Browns, who have been without their offseason addition, Deshaun Watson.
While Watson will be playing this week against the Texans, the Browns still find themselves firmly out of playoff contention.
This is great news for the Texans, who could certainly use some new playmakers on their roster.
Another surprise on this list is the Green Bay Packers.
Coming into the season, the Packers seemed like a lock to win the NFC North for the third straight year.
However, after a 4-8 record, the Packers find themselves near the bottom of the NFC, and will likely have one of the first ten picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
For context, the Packers have only had one top-ten pick since 2009, which ended up being B.J. Raji, who was taken ninth overall.
Fans are eagerly waiting for April to see who their teams will draft.
